Overview

One of the popular and the highest climbing peaks in Nepal, Mera Peak lies at an altitude of 6654m. It towers from the south of Everest. As the summit of Mera Peak keeps ascending two higher base camps are set. And it is an unproblematic peak path but at times the crevasses of Mera peak set hurdles.

The most pleasing part of the Mera Peak mountaineering is to stroll on the not often walked area of Nepal and our path goes from side to side through the perfect oak, birch, silver fir forest. Also, en-route, you can view Mera Glacier and arresting alpine lake. We can see wonderful peak panorama of the eastern peaks of Nepal with Mt. Everest (8848m), Cho-Oyu (8201m), Lhotse (8516m),  Makalu (8463m), Kanchenjunga (8586m), Nuptse (7855m),  Chamlang (7319m) and several other. In addition, Mera Peak trek will offer you a chance to visit traditional Sherpa communities of the Solu Khumbu which will let you explore Sherpa Culture and their way of life.

We will walk to High Camp higher than the Mera base camp which actually lies at the elevation of 5750m. From the summit of Mera Peak (6476m), the astonishing views of Cho-Oyu (8201m), Lhotse (8516m),  Makalu (8463m), Kanchenjunga (8586m), Nuptse (7855m),  Chamlang (7319m) as well as world’s highest peak Mt. Everest and many other stunning peaks which have an altitude over 8,000m are visible.

Best seasons

The best season to go for Mera Peak trek is spring and autumn. Though it can be preferred throughout the year, spring is also good choice because of warmer temperatures. Talking about summer, some trekkers prefer to go but this the season when the place will have lots of leeches.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival Kathmandu Airport & Transfer to Hotel.

Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, you will be welcomed by our representative at Kathmandu International airport and then you will be transferred to hotel. You can relax for the rest of the day and in the evening you can enjoy dinner with Nepali cultural dance. Overnight at hotel.

Day 02: Sightseeing Pashupatinath, Bauddhanath, Monkey temple, Basantapur Durbar Patan Durbar and Back to Hotel

Today, you will be go around different world heritage sites in Kathmandu valley; the sacred temple of Hindu, Pashupatinath; the world’s biggest Stupa, Boudhanath; Swoyambhunath Stupa which is also known as the monkey temple; and historical Kathmandu Durbar Square where you will also visit Kumari broadly known as Living Goddess in Basantapur, Kathmandu. You will also go around Patan Durbar Square which is rich in historical art and architecture. Overnight at hotel again.

Day 03: Trek Lukla to Chutanga, Overnight at Lodge

We have a trouble-free day and we will walk through the woods above Lukla. A very well trail will take us all the way through meadow to the periphery of rhododendron and pine forest which shields the vertical hills lying above Lukla. After about 3 hours we reach to Chutanga. Overnight in Chutanga at lodge.

Day 04: Trek Chutanga to Khartitang, Overnight at Lodge

We will trek for 6 hours today to Khartitang from Chutanga. You trek through Zatrawa La Pass (4610m) with a perpendicular way up. From here you will observe the incredible views of Kongdi Ri, Karyolang peak, Numbur Himal and a number of other peaks. Then after that, we move downward to Khartitang (3900m).

Day 05: Trek Khatitang to Nau Lekha, Overnight at Lodge

Today, we will trek from Khartitang to Nau Lekha. It is a pleasant trekking say and we pass all the way through a number of settlements and lush valleys. You can perceive the sights of all around along the way to Nau Lekha. Overnight in Naulekha at Lodge.

Day 06: Trek Nau Lekha to Kothey, Overnight at Lodge

We move all along the path to enter to Kothey departing from Nau Lekha today. The track pleasantly moves down through woods.  We will notice shepherds, huts and meadows along the track. The picture of Himalayas and forests are enchantingly stunning while moving to Kothey. We stay overnight in Kothey at Lodge.

Day 07: Trek Kothey to Thangnak, Overnight at Lodge

We today will stroll to Thangnak (4356m.) from Kothey passing via Hinku Valley (4600m). You will be following the bank of river. The path additionally moves up and you can enjoy the summit views like Kusum Kanguru and several other stunning peaks. Overnight in Thangnak at lodge.

Day 08: Trek Thangnak to Khare, Overnight at Lodge

We today, leave Thangnak and trek to the East. We reach at an elevation and get at Khare which is very close to the bottom of the Hinku Nup Glacier. Overnight in Khare at Lodge.

Day 09: From Khare trek to Mera BC, Overnight at Camp

Today from Khare we get there at Mera Base Camp which is located at an elevation of 5300m and it takes around 6 hours. The trail is occupied by massive views of Himalayas. As soon as we reach at the Mera base camp, you can walk all around the region of Mera Peak.  Here, we set our camp to stay overnight.

Day 10: From Mera Base Camp climb to High Camp

We will walk to High Camp higher than the Mera base camp which actually lies at the elevation of 5750m. Ascend is not very much extended but has only some challenging trails. From here the vista of the huge mountains and snow-capped peaks give you breathtaking impression.We locate high camp here to stay overnight.

Day 11: From High Camp reach the summit 6654m. & back to Base camp

Today we will walk to reach at the summit of Mera Peak (6476m). From here the astonishing views of Chamlang Nuptse, as well as world’s highest peak Mt. Everest and many other peaks which have an altitude over 8,000m are visible. And then we will return back to base Camp and stay overnight there.

Day 12: Trek from Mera Base Camp to Khare, Overnight at Lodge

On this day, we go back over our steps to reach Khare after with the unforgettable memories of reaching at the summit of the pea. Also, the views are enjoyable while trekking down to Khare from the base camp. We stay overnight in Khare at Lodge.

Day 13: From Khare trek to Kothey, Overnight at Lodge

We go away from Khare to get there at Kothe which takes around 8 hours. This day you will march all along the steady trail passing through Tangnang, a small community where you can see yak settlement. In order to return to Kothey you will go after the same trail. En route you will leave behind the jungles filled with fir, rhododendron and local vegetation.

Day 14: From Kothey trek to Khartitang, Overnight at Lodge

We will trek back from Kothey to Khartitang today. We keep on following the path and walk through the same pleasant views of natural vegetation and vista. Upon or arrival at Khartitang, we will set our camp to overnight stay.

Day 15: Trek Khartitang to Chutanga, Overnight at Lodge

We walk back to Chutanga from Khartitang today moving down and passing all the way through forest of rhododendrons. The striking views of Himalayan range seem to be pleasing and striking though we are having distance from these terrific views. We arrive at Chutanga and place camps for overnight stay.

Day 16: Chutanga to Lukla, Overnight at Lodge

On this day, we will move from Chutanga to Lukla taking around 4 hours. You trek all the way through forests of fir, rhododendron, juniper, oak and other different vegetation. When we reach at Lukla we will be mesmerized by the stunning vistas of Numbur Himal, Kongdi Ri, Karyolang peak and many other peaks.

Day 17: Take a flight from Lukla to Kathmandu, Overnight at Hotel

On this day early in the morning; we take a picturesque flight from Lukla for the returning back to Kathmandu. We will transfer you back to our hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 18: Rest day in Kathmandu, Overnight at Hotel

Today we have a day rest in Kathmandu. Optionally, you can stay in the hotel and relax. Or, you can also go around the historical and world heritage sites in Kathmandu that you couldn’t go for on the second day of your trek. Or, you can go around for shopping. Overnight at hotel.

Day 19: Departure for Your Final Destination

You will drive to airport by our representative and take the flight to reach your destination from Kathmandu.
