Overview

The Rolwaling valley situated east of Kathmandu to the west of Khumbu and beneath Mt. Gauri Shankar (7145 m) all the way through its natural splendor and cultural affluence. The great views of Mt. Tashi Lapcha, Mt. Melungtse, and Mt. Dorje Lakpa appear in front of us when we proceed to Beding village of Beding at an elevation of 3690 m. The Rolwaling trek in fact is one of the most difficult treks in Nepal and demands ascending experience and assistance from experienced guides.

This region is located between Langtang range and Everest range and we will be captivated by the panorama of wonderful Mt Gaurishankar. The way fall near the Tibetan border that is why you can explore Tibetan culture too. Particularly Buddhist people, Brahmins, Tamangs, Sherpas, Chhetris etc also live. The Rolwaling means “The Furrow“in the Sherpa language .

This moderate Rowaling Trek will also let you go around the Tso Rolpa ice lake; view the wonderful panorama of terraced farmlands; and arresting snow topped peak and more. Moreover, the valley holds alpine lakes, moraines, hanging glaciers, high pastures, waterfalls, superb views of snowy mountains in the backdrop.

Attractions

Home of the famous Sherpa mountaineers with unique Tamang and Sherpa people, high glaciers, lakes as well as many stunning mountains as Gaurishankar, Chekigo, Melungtse, chobutse, Ramdung peak etc. This is really attractive visit to Gaurishankar conservation region. Also the route passes all along Tama koshi river vale through isolated Sherpa villages of Beding, Simigaun and Na. The walk will take you through elevated Rolwaling glacier and Trolambau glacier which makes our journey memorable one.

Why Different

The Rowaling valley is near to the gigantic Tengi Ragi Tau (6900 m) and Bigphera Go (6700 m). While a valley moves downward south from Yalung La at an elevation 5300 m to the Ripimo glacier, overlooked by the striking Chobutse (6690 m). The Tesi Lapcha pass at 5700m located on the eastern side of Drolam Bau, between Parchamo and Tengi Ragi Tau, and connects Thame to the Khumbu valley.

Best Season

The best season to go for Rowaling valley trek is October and November though it can be preferred throughout the year. Spring is also good choice because of warmer temperatures. Talking about summer, some trekkers prefer to go. These days are clear and warm with the possibility of snow later.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival Kathmandu Airport & Transfer to Hotel.

Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, you will be welcomed by our representative at Kathmandu International airport and then you will be transferred to hotel. You can relax for the rest of the day and in the evening you can enjoy dinner with Nepali cultural dance. Overnight at hotel.

Day 02: Sightseeing Pashupatinath, Bauddhanath, Monkey temple, Basantapur Durbar, Patan Durbar, and Back to Hotel

Today, you will be go around different world heritage sites in Kathmandu valley; the sacred temple of Hindu, Pashupatinath; the world’s biggest Stupa, Boudhanath; Swoyambhunath Stupa  which is also known as the monkey temple; and historical Kathmandu Durbar Square where you will also visit Kumari broadly known as Living Goddess in Basantapur, Kathmandu. You will also go around Patan Durbar Square which is rich in historical art and architecture. Overnight at hotel again.

Day 03: Kathmandu – Barabise (819m.)

With an enjoyable drive all along the Arniko Highway we will reach Barabise. On the way, we will be mesmerized with the very stunning views. Overnight at the tented camp in Barabise.

Day 04: Barabide – Kabre (1605m)

We start with a vertical climb following the city of Barabise all the way through mustard and rice fields. After around 2 hours we will reach a ridge with eye-catching views downward the Sun Kosi. Along this edge, we get several superb views of the several birds of prey, towering along this edge. Overnight at Kabre.

Day 05: Kabre – Dolongsa

Leaving Kabre today we will climb moving through small communities and woods to a clearing at the ridge of the Rhododendron jungle. You can see number of birds here. Overnight at camp in Dolongsa.

Day 06: Dolongsa – Bigu Gompa (2310m)

Today, we have a very vertical ascend to the pass (3320m) is greeted with awesome views of the peak with Everest. From the pass we move down through wonderful forest to the monastery of Bigu Gompa. Overnight at the tented camp in Bigu Gompa.

Day 07: Bigu Gompa – Chilangka (1923m)

Departing from Chilangka, we will have to descend to arrive at the Samling Khola at an elevation of 1710m before ascend to Chilangka. Overnight at the tented camp in Chilangka.

Day 08: Chilangka – Kulong (1890m.)

We move through the hillside today with a few rises and fall and some superb views of Gauri Shanker at an altitude of 7145m. Overnight in Kulong.

Day 09: Kulong – Shalu (1500m)

An enjoyable day with easy trekking will mostly lead downhill to the Bhote Kosi to the village of Jagat. From here, it is an easy walk upstream to our campsite at Shalu.

Day 10: Shalu - Simigoan (2000m.)

We have an easy walk all along the river until we go aross the Bhote Kosi. From here, we have a very steep ascend to Simigoan. Overnight at camp in Simigaon.

Day 11: Simigoan – Forest Camp (2800m.)

After a short vertical climb, we will enter a stunning mixed jungle and make way to Rhododendron as we ascend higher. We will then move down to set our campsite alongside the Rolwaling River.

Day 12 - 13: Forest Camp – Beding (3694m.)

We will continue ascend through forest prior to entering the open Rolwaling Valley at Ramdung and then walk to Beding. Beding is the largest community of the Rolwaling Valley. Overnight in Beding.

Day 14: Beding – Na (4100m.)

Today, we will continue upwards all along the valley all the way through Rhododendrons to Na. one of the summer settlements. Overnight at guest house in Na.

Day 15: Na (4100m.)

We have a day rest in Na today for becoming accustomed with the environment. Also we can explore around the upper slopes of the Rowaling valley. Or also you can visit the glacier nearby. Overnight in na again.

Day 16: Na - Forest Camp (2800m.)

We will retrace back our steps to this stunning campsite in the jungle. Overnight in the Forest camp.

Day 17: Chetchet – Chetre (1000m.)

From our forest camp, we will move to Chetre. Today we will continue down river, we will pass all the way through some fascinating villages of medieval look where you can click some photographs. Overnight in Chetre.

Day 18: Chetre – Dolakha (950m.)

We will continue all along the valley and pass through some very attractive forest. Overnight in Dolakha.

Day 19: Dolakha – Charikot (2000m.)

After a steep mount, we will reach to Charikot today and stay overnight there.

Day 20: Charikot – Kathmandu

Today we will drive back to Kathmandu from Charikot. Optionally, you can stay in the hotel and relax. Or, you can also go around the historical and world heritage sites in Kathmandu that you couldn’t go for on the second day of your trek. Or, you can go around for shopping. Overnight at hotel.

Day 21: Departure for Your Final Destination

You will drive to airport by our representative and take the flight to reach your destination from Kathmandu.

In Gosaikunda 2014 November...

We took two groups to Gosaikunda at December 2014. We sent two guides with each seven and five groups. It was very successful trip of our company as before. Every travelers of Korea and Norway became lot of happy to visit there. Again they will arrive here in same company to visit ghorepeni poonhill trek.
