Overview
Kanchenjunga, the third largest mountain in the world after Everest and K2 is sited in the eastern part of Nepal. It is to be found on the northern border of Nepal and Sikkim, just 46 miles northwest of Darjeeling. Kanchenjunga is even called Kanchenzonga meaning the “five treasures of snow” in Sikkimese language, as the peak consists of five major peaks. They are Kanchenjunga (8586m), Yalungkang (8505), Kanchenjunga west (8420m) and the Twin peaks (both 8476m).
It is one of a gigantic mountain mass and various protectorate peaks rising from the narrow icy ridge. The first gradient of this mountain was in 1956 by a British expedition whose leadership was done by Charles Evans. The expedition embarks on with the flight to Taplejung.
